Honestly,Seriously………

I went for this………….

IMG_4255

One lousy bag of potting soil……………….

Just so I could top dress the container gardens, this week-end.

But then ,my eyes cast upon this……………..

IMG_4247

A BLACK Viola!!

Not purple……

Not dark blue…..

But BLACK!!!!

IMG_4247-1

Have you ever seen such a thing?

I had to have it!

So bought it I did!

Well,if you buy that, you, obviously have to buy something to go with it.

Right?

How ‘bout this?

IMG_4253

Oh! I should probably get a new pot, too.

And,probably,another bag of potting soil,while I’m here.

It’ll save a trip and all.

Oh!I have always wanted an Australian Tree Fern

(since I saw one in Meem’s garden).

IMG_4258

Plus, since I expanded the shade garden,I have the perfect spot for one…..

And don’t forget the Flowering Kale…….

Sooooo………..

this is what I came home with…….

IMG_4249

But,seriously,

I only went for one bag of potting soil.

Really……………

Truly…………….

I mean it,

with all sincerity………

I haven't seen a black viola. Very mysterious. Love the pot you got. You'll have to email me and let me know what they charge for the flowers and dirt in your area. My husband brought me home a back of potting soil yesterday...$11-something and it will be gone in a flash. You'll have to take some more photos when it's all put together in the garden.

Gayle-the potting soil was $9.98 for 2 bags approx.the size of a trash bag.It is quite heavy,so when I use it for rooting cuttings or containers I "lighten" it up by adding perlite to it.
The violas were a bit more $$ than HD or Lowes, but well worth it it,as they are healthy and disease free.

Isn't that the way it is, you go in for one thing and come out with 10. I love that black viola, and of course the others are lovely too. They are such happy flowers.

Enjoy.

Love this post! It reflects what most of our gardeners will do in a nursery trip! Love that glazed pot, and black viola.

Beautiful, I've never seen a black viola either. I went out and bought potting mix this week and planted a flat of lettuce. It's growing like crazy. We'll see how long it takes to get edible!

Oh yes, I can relate to your potting soil turning into so much more. Beautiful violas and the black one is an eye-catcher for sure. How does the tree-fern do with the cold weather? And thanks for the info on Dungeon's. I know you will enjoy ALL your purchases.

It never fails does it? A gardener just isn't safe going for one thing. You are going to love your Australian Fern. They are fast growers and will look great in your garden. I keep thinking I need another... :-)

There isn't a better potting soil than Duncheon's.
