Getting the garden back in order.

So,with gloves on,clippers in hand,I set out to make this garden ship-shape.

 

However,I,also,had the camera with me……

 

……and my ADHD kicked in…..

 

very little weeding got done…..

somehow the squirrels and birds missed this one….

….and look who’s old enough to help decorate the tree….

with a little bit of help from big sister….

the garden has taken a back seat,lately.

Time to get back to work…

Yesterday was spent cleaning up

and doing a photo log of where the garden is…

The warm winter and early summer have taken a toll on the veggie garden.

All that is left are some green beans,

and eggplant…

and a pineapple!

cut the top off a store bought one and stick in dirt.

Does it get any easier than that?

Then cut the top off this one and plant…

along with the baby it’ll put off the side

…and so on and so on….

soon you’ll have a pineapple plantation!

Meyer Lemon has fruit…

and smells…..

…lemony!

The lone Brown Fig is still growing…

no birds have attacked it,

…yet.

The Simpson Stopper berries are ripening…

and the birds are ever so happy…

The Purple Fire Spike is blooming like crazy…

Kay,I think I got the original cutting from you when we had the garden meet-up at Meems.

Sooo….

just when you are kicking back by the pool….

feeling all tropical…

…chillin’

cold drink in hand…

you look up and see this slacker…

B is for….

…Blackberry Lily

My first seeds came from Susan,at Simply Susan – thank you for these beauties.

Previously,they had been planted in dappled shade.

They bloomed ok…

but just that.

Ok.

Oh,I got seeds,

and they sprouted,

but it was just ok…..

When TheTree went down,they were dug up and stored in pots,until the pool was finished.

Now,they are in full sun.

All day.

I worried,at first,that it would be too much sun for them.

But I was wrong.

Now,they are all close to five feet tall.

Standing straight and true.

No flopping over allowed here….

And the flower scapes have started.

Today,I found the first of what should be many blooms.

B is for Brown Fig, ficus carica

Having always wanted a fig tree,I bought a Brown Fig tree last fall,

with hopes it would make it.

It has performed so-so.

Just when I was ready to chalk it up to a lesson learned,and ripping it out,I found this….

My first fig!

and the only one,but who’s counting?

I think it can hang around a little bit longer….
