Help!!!

As I posted previously, the County is done with their work. Now,it’s time to reconstruct the area to something more pleasing.More pleasureable to the eye..

I hope you all have had your thinking caps on,because I need ideas!

The first problem area:IMG_1315

the front entry to the backyard…

As you can see,I have already moved some Giant Liriope and Monkey Grass to this area. The walkway will be reworked with gravel, the pavers pictured, and adobe stones. A la this manner…IMG_1315

-The Problem:

-I am stuck with the Bahia grass for 30 days….damn  government!

-The reconstructed fence doesn’t match.I need to hide that.

-Full shade in the winter.Full sun in the Spring,Summer, and Fall.

Thoughts?

#2 problem area…….IMG_1317

The back.

The problem:Approximately 8 feet wide x 36 feet deep.Deep shade in winter(from the neighbors house) and full sun in summer.

-After the originating 36 feet, the back 30 feet will be an enlarged vegetable garden. Yep-I’m stuck with the Florida Maple-to the left of the garden shed- for ONE YEAR.SWFMWD is going to return in one year to make certain it is still alive.Annoyed

But Dad told me how to keep it from growing any larger.Ya gotta love old time gardeners!

-Four feet from the fence (reading from left to right) leads to a slight swall(with a drop of about 6-12 inches-4 feet wide-which leads down to the water.I am not allowed to mess with that). So,I’m anticipating using that as a pathway, with gravel and flagstones. With a curve?

As I stated before, this area has shade from the neighbor’s house in the winter.Full sun in the Spring/Summer/Fall.I want Florida Friendly,cold-hardy,and a Florida feel to this area. The patio,by our swimming pool.overlooks this area,so I’m going for that feeling.

Thoughts?

Sooo,fellow bloggers,

Feel free…

Advise away…….

I’m easy……

Oh! I have these to work with,too….IMG_1237

Yea me!!!!

FYI-It pays to make coffee,on a cold Florida morning, for the contractors. They bring you presents.

Can you please do this again only as a narrated video? It is hard to envision what you are talking about and how this all relates to the rest of the yard - which I've been to and I know the lay of the land but it's still hard. Can you imagine the rest of your intrepid readers? I think a 3 minute tour of the yard, these areas emphasized, should do it. C'mon, you know you want to! ;p

I'm still stuck in the Monkey Grass! Didn't even know you had Monkeys in Lutz. :)

Can't wait to see what you do with the area. I actually would love to be given a free tree that someone else planted. ;p We have so very little shade here at PITV that we've added a dozen little trees all over the place, including two Florida maples. Can't really help you with design, as I am more of a "buy-the-plant-then-find-a-place" sort of gardener.

What a great opportunity you have before you. Why do you feel "stuck" with the maple? Is this where you need sun for veggies? I'm not good at plans, but I can't wait to tell you how wonderful it all is once your done:)

I would love to have some suggestions for you, but I don't think the "Alaska" feel is exactly what you have in mind. Like the idea of a video. Am curious to see how it all turns out.

Chris,
I'm not sure I understand the whole picture either. Would love to help though if you think of way to better explain it. Whatever you do ... have fun with it... it's kind of a clean slate. Think Great things!
