Raindrops….

…keep fallin’…

I know it’s the rainy season in Florida,but still….

We’ve had a lot of rain,lately.

Nothin’ to do but take the camera

and play with the settings

and Photoscape…

“There’s rain drops in the photo, aren't there?"

Whatever….

IMG_4065

…Just somethin’ to do on a rainy afternoon…..

I’m not lazy…..

lazy

It’s just waaay too hot,and humid,to do anything in the garden.

The last three days,I have gotten up early.

To try and beat the heat…

And the humidity…

And the rain…

Was it so long ago when we were bemoaning the lack of rain?

But by 10AM,sweat is running into places that are incredibly uncomfortable,

…not to mention…w-e-l-l,you get my drift….

….and I’m pooped….

Even the butterflies are kinda pooped…

IMG_4020

The only shady spot in the yard.…

IMG_4036

is wet and mosquito filled…

So far,I have managed to get a few beds weeded,

…the birdfeeders filled…

IMG_4019

IMG_4025I have waaaay too many feeders…

.I think I have nine…

...not counting the three suet feeders..

Even Buddha looks like he’s sweating…

IMG_4026

Today, was spent in and outta the pool,

…it is late July,

in Florida,

after all….

I’m not stupid…

and trying to take a few photos for documentation of where TheGreatWall is at this time of year…

Most of the Caladiums have been dug up and planted into containers,on the new screened lanai….

Gingerland

Tropical Sage seems to have adjusted well…

IMG_4043

Here,with a back drop of Cat’s Whiskers.

The hummers love the Tropical Sage,by the way.

Should I be dead heading them?I haven’t been, but I wonder if they would bloom more prolifically if I dead headed them.

Thoughts?

Anyone…?

Bueller…?

I moved the sun loving Hosta’s,to a less sun loving spot.

IMG_4024

In the right background,is Lemon Grass growing in a galvanized tub.also there is Giant Liriope and Cinnamon Fern.

Contrary to belief, they did not do well in full sun. Now,they are in a spot that gets full sun until about noon-1 o’clock. And they seem to like it much better in their new home…

IMG_4023

The orchids love this weather…

IMG_4050

As do the other shade loving plants that have been moved to the lanai…

IMG_4053

Hey,Gramma….

What Emma?

You know how you can stay cool?

How?

Eat ice cream!!!!!

emmaicecream

I Should Know Better…

…than to take a weekend off from the garden.

Dumb thing to do during rainy season,in Florida.

With the rain we’ve been having the weeds have been growing.

…by leaps and bounds….

Time to get back to work on the garden…

Managed to fill two garbage cans with this kind of stuff…IMG_4004

But some things love this weather….

The Angel’s Trumpets have not stopped blooming….

IMG_4010Notice the babies it’s put out? Love, love, love this plant!

The Sedum is growing …

IMG_4014

Wet weather doesn’t seem to be bothering it at all.I would have thought that with all this rain it would have started to rot.But even the Sedum that is in the ground is growing.

Go figure.

One of those things we gardeners cannot…

….or

will never understand?

The Plumerias are growing by leaps and bounds.

This is a deep pink/redIMG_4017

And this is a yellowIMG_4018

Hey Gramma!

What Emma?

Can I say hi?

You most certainly can.

Hi!!!

Everyone!!!

Distractions….and slackers….

Between family,
    personal issues,
    work…
-I officially retire in 31 days!-
    tropical storms….
-thanks Debbie for the mess you left in my yard-
   and other various stuff…
….like a leak in the wall of the house…
leak                                                             Oy!I need a concrete guy,stat!
the garden has taken a back seat, lately.
Time to get back to work…
Yesterday was spent cleaning up
and doing a photo log of where the garden is…
The warm winter and early summer have taken a toll on the veggie garden.
All that is left are some green beans,
and eggplant…
IMG_3986
and a pineapple!
IMG_3981
cut the top off a store bought one and stick in dirt.
Does it get any easier than that?
Then cut the top off this one and plant…
along with the baby it’ll put off the side
…and so on and so on….
soon you’ll have a pineapple plantation!

Meyer Lemon has fruit…
IMG_3982
and smells…..
…lemony!
The lone Brown Fig is still growing…
IMG_3971
no birds have attacked it,
…yet.

The Simpson Stopper berries are ripening…
IMG_3989
and the birds are ever so happy…
The Purple Fire Spike is blooming like crazy…
IMG_3988
Kay,I think I got the original cutting from you when we had the garden meet-up at Meems.
Sooo….
just when you are kicking back by the pool….
IMG_3992
feeling all tropical…
…chillin’
cold drink in hand…
you look up and see this slacker…
