And so it begins……..

After 5 years of planning,my bitching complaining to Hillsborough County, the drainage project has finally begun!

.Yesterday, fences were removed, temporary fences erected, the trees came down

----yessiree,we got some oak and maple firewood outta the deal----

trees

Today,the real work began…..

Stumps grounded out,

---ooops,they cut the power to our well, not to mention our FiOS cable, but all is fixed now---

Backhoes clearing……IMG_1157

Do you know how hard it was to restrain YardBoy at this point?--- It is very, very hard to convince a man that this is NOT a Tonka truck…and NO you cannot drive it!

And they didn’t touch what was left of the veggie garden.I promised them some tomatoes, collards, and tomatoes….

Temporarily leveled…..IMG_1160

Tomorrow it gets dug up again,to lay the drainage pipes.

The start of driveways--our’s and others’—being removed……IMG_1161

Two weeks from start to finish…..they say two weeks.

I think I may believe them….

I’m already have a plan for the planned garden….

Something that includes camellias……..

I'm glad that you're able to plan more garden for this area now. It looks like the aggravation of all the digging and "oops!" are going to be worth it.

Sounds like you have a vision beyond this! Best of luck.

I'm so glad you are finally getting what you want. I would so totally freak out if my yard was being tore up. I doubt I would have complained; I would have just fixed it myself. I don't think people come fix that kind of stuff around here anyhow. I can't wait to see the finished project!

It is awful having property torn up, but oh the joy of setting it right again. Have fun, and I hope it only takes two weeks. :-)

Glad to hear you're getting your water problem solved. Was the water running off the road onto your property? Were other neighbors affected, too. We had the same problem and our county would not fix it...very interesting. Can't wait to see what you do with the relandscape.

Susan-we didn't have a water problem, but nighbor across the road from us did.Which he created,I might add. So,whenever we had a heavy rain,he literally got water into his house. He complained enough that the county came out about 5 years ago,and started planning this.It took so long to come to fruition because we live on a lake so the EPC was involved and has quite a permitting process,I guess.Oddly enough, the neighbor who started the whole thing has been quite the horses-ass about it.The contractor actually had to threaten to have him arrested if he continued to bother his workers. The rest of us are enjoying the process, and the mess.Knowing when it's done we'll all have new driveways, clean fill and new yards.
