I snipped a Lubber today and thought of you.....Why do you call them Lubbers???? I missed that....
Hubby took down a HUGE hornets nest that he noticed 2 weeks ago.....they were busy while we we were on Vaca....
Jeanne-they're Eastern Lubber Grasshoppers.All they do is eat(and eat,and eat) green foliage.Grrrr....
Will you come over and git my wasps for me? I'm a skeered. I have three brothers, each of whom has a bee and/or wasp sting emergency room story to tell. I've never been stung so I dunno, but judging from my DNA, I'm figuring I shouldn't mess with them....

Tink-get yourself some wasp/hornet spray from HD,Publix,etc. Spray'em,then knock 'em down with a broom.That's what I do,and I am highly allergic to 'em.(Oh yeah---I take a Benadryl first-just in case I get stung)
How big are those things that you have to snip their heads off? Ewww!
I hope we don't get those dang lubbers down here. I've seen a couple of grass hoppers, but not those guys.

Oh you go girlfriend!!! Sometimes ya kinda scare me too!!! **kisses** Deb
Oh Chris, when it's Lubber season it's easy to get a little too excited about the killing. I have my hubby counting his kills too. We do Lubber patrol morning and evening. It's them or the garden!
