or as my Dad says,”Give it time.”

Just when I was ready to give up on some of the plantings coming back,lo and behold……

The plumerias are finally awakening from their winter slumber.I had just about given up on tem, thinking this past winter was too cold for too long a time. And too many freezes.

But my Dad convinced to hang in there.”They may come back from their roots.Give them time.”

I was convinced this time he was wrong. But this weekend I was pleasantly surprised…….more like jumping for joy….IMG_4636

All of the plumeria have new growth, most from their roots.

What else has decided to join the party?

I was certain this one was a goner,as it was totally unprotected during the freezes.

I try to leave things alone for a whole season before I write them off for this very reason.

It's amazing how slow plants have been to come back. My plumeria still isn't showing any sign of life. Kudos to Yardboy on his gorgeous roses. They're so pretty I can almost smell them.

This year is teaching a lot of us patience. Lucky you on having a plumeria come back. Mine turned to mush at the soil line. I just got another stick from a friend and am going to try again. My pentas and cannas are driving me crazy with how slowly they are growing. But, they are growing and for that I am thankful.

I like that expression "Patience is Power"! So true when it comes to tropical gardening in Central Florida. Our rule here at PITV is that nothing gets removed until at least June. My cold-ravaged plumerias started putting out new leaves two or three weeks ago, so I definitely share in your excitement. Pretty roses!

It does seem to be taking so much longer this year for near-dead plants to recover. I totally lost my dwarf ixoras. Their larger cousins are just now sprouting green on most of the branches, but two are still questionable. Ironically, my roses are superb this spring -- they loved the cold. BTW, I'm in Palm Bay, FLa. And my garden blog is Anitasgardencorner.blogspot.com.
