Palm Sunday…………….

John 12:13…..

So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!”

Ladybug,ladybug…..

Ladybug, ladybug fly away home,
Your house is on fire and your children are gone,

IMG_0029

from Wikipedia:

“There were superstitious beliefs that it was unlucky to kill a ladybug, and that the verse would make them fly off. Another superstition states that you should chant the verse if a ladybug lands on you: if it then flies away again, your wish will come true.

Ladybugs are useful as eaters of aphids, which would otherwise damage plants. They can also be a nuisance, but there would be logic from a farmer or gardener’s viewpoint in trying to shoo them away rather than kill them. This could be the rational basis for teaching children to respect them.”

Ladybugs = no aphids

I’m good with that…..

Spring cleaning……

In the last week,we have gone from Spring

to Winter

to Spring,

again.

And,today, was like a nice Summer day.

….but without the humidity and rain….

IMG_4889

Nice,

sunny,

hot,

breezy.

Time to get out the clippers and machete

…..and whack away…..

IMG_4890

Always looks much better with the dead stuff cleared out, doesn’t it?

Planted the Rouge Plant –Rivina humilis

IMG_4891

that I bought here…..

There’s a Blue Sage Plant,next to it.

I think they will get along famously.

Hopefully…?

Please?

A brom I bought here, 3-4 years ago….

….has finally decided to

bloom!!!!

IMG_4894

Patience is a virtue,after all.

and the whole garden smells like this…..

Banana Shrub (Michelia figo) also sailed through…..
IMG_4876

I followed Dad’s advice, and left the orchids on their own……
….some were protected on the lanai, and some were under other plantings…
and they did just fine…..
