Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful…..

Here we go again…….

A front passed through TheGreatWall around noon, today. The temperatures have started dropping. And tomorrow and the next night we are due for freezes!

Time to get out the freeze blankets and strip the sheets off the beds!

Isn’t this supposed to be a La Nina’ winter? Guess Mother Nature didn’t get the memo…..

Cuttings have been taken.

And I think they make for very pretty,Christmas-y floral arrangements.

Tomorrow,we’ll be putting the hoop house back up over the veggie garden.

Anywho……..

It may be frightful outside but inside TheGreatWall headquarters it is beginning to look like Christmas!

The tree is up!

l-r:a blown glass palm tree,me!,and of course,a flip-flop!

And you had to know we’d have a pink flamingo on the tree……..

Merry Christmas!

On a sad note:This past week we lost YardBoy’s 88 year old mother. The woman who taught him everything he knows about growing roses(and that’s a lot!).And who made the best macaroni salad you have EVER tasted!Seriously!I’m not kidding. It is the BEST!

But after years of poor health, her body finally gave out.We are thankful she is with the Lord, and is tending to His rose garden.

Mama Pat,you will be missed dearly

I agree those cuttings do make a great bouquet together. You just reminded me that I should take some cuttings too! Sorry to hear about your MIL, but I am sure thinking she is with lord to tend the rose garden is a very beautiful thought.

Best wishes to your garden, hope it can pull through this freeze safe and sound. Happy Holidays!

Those are lovely, colorful Florida December bouquets.

I brought some orchids in as it's going to be really cold especially with the wind that we are having.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dear MIL. Knowing she is with Jesus is a blessing, and knowing that you will see her again one day, is a great joy.

Love and hugs to you and your DH ~ FlowerLady

So sorry to hear about your loss. We will keep you in our prayers.

I am stressing over the forecast up here on the river. Last I checked, it is all doom-and-gloom...probably a hard freeze, with the worst temps I've seen in my gardening lifetime. I will be chopping up a few plants tomorrow myself.

Love, love, love your Florida inspired Christmas ornaments! Too perfect!

So sorry about your loss. Passing on the rose growing knowledge is priceless. I hope your DH has had a chance to pass it on to your son. Losing a loved one at the holidays is never easy. May peace be with you.

For the first time, I have azalea cuttings in a container of water, which have nice healthy roots developing.I also have quite a few of my favorite coleus with a good root system developed.

Yes, the weather is frightful. But, it is all part of the seasonal cycle we seem to be experiencing. Love your Florida Christmas tree. Such happy and festive ornaments made me smile.

Sorry about the loss of Yardboy's mother. It's never easy to say good-bye to a loved one. May this season of hope bring peace to your family.
